CIS321 Computer Languages (Java): Level I

CIS321 Computer Languages (Java) is a basic certificate programming course that introduces students to one of the most widely used languages in practice today. Java technology is both a programming language and a platform. Java, a high-level third-generation language, can be used to write computer applications that process numbers and words, play games, store data, or achieve any of the innumerable goals for which software has been designed. Because Java is a simple, practical and accessible code, students new to the subject can become proficient in a brief period of time.

In sixteen classes, students will receive a comprehensive overview of the problem-solving techniques, Java requirements and the details of coding and testing. KSI instructors employ a hands-on approach that includes live-code examples. With our training, students can acquire an effective, job-centered knowledge of the subject. The class is intended for novice programmers, managers, systems administrators, and technical writers.

CIS323 Java GUI : Level II

CIS323 Java GUI extends the level of certificate training presented in CIS321 Computer Languages (Java). This eight-week session will emphasize Swing, a toolkit of Java Foundation Classes that defines the look and feel of the graphical user interface (GUI). Java Swing streamlines the design of Java GUI and allows users to create an attractive and efficient GUI that can be customized for relevant applications. In sixteen classes, students will be exposed to the history, basic concepts, and core features of the language. The prerequisite for the class is the Level I course.

Certification Exam:

After students complete the Introduction to Java course, they are encouraged to take the JAVA certification exam. Upon passing the exam, the student will receive the Sun Certified Programmer for the Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition 6 certificate.

Required Hardware and Software:

Sun Microsystems J2SE version 5.0 should be installed on an IBM-compatible computer using Windows 98, NT, ME, 2000 or XP. NetBeans IDE 5.5 or higher may be acquired if desired.
