SAS Training Program

Our online SAS training program is a practical introduction to statistical computing that focuses on data analysis and reporting applications. It has been designed to prepare students "from the ground up" and to get them current as quickly as possible with SAS programming methods. These methods are applicable today to data management fields in numerous industries. Both conceptual and applied knowledge is covered in this class in a well-balanced manner. Those students with no prior training in SAS will find the course essential for developing an in-depth knowledge of the subject.

Course Introductions:

  • MA377 SAS Base Programming:This course is designed for new SAS users who are interested in learning the SAS base programming. It provides you a start in all basic concepts and techniques of SAS base programming in either the SAS or SAS Enterprise Guide programming workspace, including creating data, modifying and combining data sets, summarizing and presenting data, and debugging SAS programs.

Certification Exam: SAS Certified Base Programmer credential for SAS 9

The course is divided into four major sections: Basic Concept; DATA Step Processing; Presenting and Summarizing Your Data including:

    • Reading data from external sources
    • Learning details of DATA step programming
    • Subsetting and combining SAS data sets
    • Understanding SAS functions and working with arrays
    • Creating reports with PROC REPORT and PROC TABULATE
    • Learning to use the SAS Output Delivery System
    • Getting started with the SAS macro language
    • Introducing PROC SQL

  • MA379 Advanced SAS Programming:This course introduces procedures used to obtain descriptive statistics, frequency tables, and cross tabulations. You will also be introduced to several inferential statistics such as the chi-square test, independent- and paired-sample t-tests, bivariate correlations, regression, and univariate and repeated- measures ANOVA using realtime data.

After completing this course, you should be able to obtain descriptive statistics, create a frequency table, create a cross tabulation table, perform a chi- square test of independence, use t-tests, conduct regression analysis, and specify basic ANOVA models using SAS.

Certification Exam: SAS Certified Advanced Programmer credential for SAS 9

    Key Topics Covered:

    • SAS Systems
    • Data Manipulation
    • SAS Macro
    • Descriptive Statistics
    • ANOVA
    • Correlation and Regression
    • Non-Parametric Statistics

Prerequisites:MA377 SAS Programming or equivalent experience

Critical Benefits:

KSI is offering students a flexible schedule of two session classes. The alternatives are intended to make course selection as easy as possible. Integral to the class are sets of questions taken from the certification exam that have been designed to improve students' chances of passing the test. The course employs SAS Learning Edition 2.0/4.1, a volume that has proven its effectiveness as an introductory text.

Key Topics Covered:

  • SAS Systems
  • Data Manipulation
  • SAS Macro
  • Descriptive Statistics
  • ANOVA
  • Correlation and Regression
  • Non-Parametric Statistics

SAS Certification--Why It Matters

SAS Certifications in Base and advanced Programming have become a critical tool for those seeking new professional options or planning to extend the ones they have. Base/Advanced SAS and SAS/STAT have become standard analytical tools in many business and scientific organizations. More employers than ever are screening potential hires in terms of Certification in these specialties.

Program Schedule:

  • Spring 2008
    • MA377 SAS Base Programming, January 7 - February 13, Monday and Wednesday, 6:30 - 9:30pm

    • MA379: SAS Advanced Programming Every Tuesday and Thursday 6:30pm – 9:30pm 1/8/08 - 2/28/08.
Procedures: Our online program has a dedicated course Web site that includes the following:
  • Weekly lessons presented by KSI faculty.
  • Rich graphics and multimedia materials, such as streaming video, PowerPoint presentations, flash graphics, graphic illustrations and schematics, programming code examples, PDF documents, sample questions, outside readings, valuable resource hyperlinks and related class materials.
  • Online chat sessions and audio/video conferencing hosted by KSI faculty. This feature includes online discussions with fellow students; transcripts of these discussions will also be available.
  • Internet browser portal for online resources and faculty/student presentations.

The course also allows for access to instructors via e-mail and telephone. Students' training will involve mock exams, answers to which are provided after each test. Full discussions of the results are also available to students.
