International Students

KSI sponsors F-1 Visa Status students from all over the world. We do our best to cultivate a diverse learning environment that embraces all the different cultural backgrounds of our students. KSI also authorizes Curricular and Optional Practical Training (CPT/OPT) to international students looking to gain work experience while earning their Master's degree in Computer and Information Sciences.

How to Apply

Prospective International Students are required to submit the following materials to be considered for admission to KSI:

All International Students

  Application Form:
  Fill out and submit the application form online    OR
  Download the Application form and submit it by mail, email or fax
  $50 non-refundable application fee*
  Three letters of recommendation**
  Official Transcripts, from all previous institutions of Higher Education**
  Photocopies of all diplomas or degrees received
  A 1" to 1.5" standard photo
  Financial statements indicating sufficient funds for student's support (and that of dependents, if applicable) during the academic year
  Financial statements from a secondary source of funding and an Affidavit of support (if additional funds are necessary)
  TOEFL scores***

International Transfer Students

  Copy of your passport and visa
  Copy of your most recent Form I-94
  Copy of all previous Form I-20s, if transferring from another school
  Financial statements indicating sufficient funds for student's support (and that of dependents, if applicable) during the academic year
  Financial statements from a secondary source of funding and an Affidavit of support (if additional funds are necessary)
  TOEFL scores***
  Transfer Verification Form ( to have SEVIS record released to KSI)

*If the student does not yet have F-1 visa status and is applying for initial attendance as an F-1 student, a $50 application fee will be required.

**Please note that these items must come directly from the student's college or university, or from the parties that have prepared letters of recommendation, in sealed envelopes that are signed across the seal. Unofficial transcripts may be submitted to begin the application process, but we will need official transcripts to complete each student's application file, and to make an admissions decision.

***TOEFL grade reports should be sent directly to the school using the school's TOEFL test center code, 1379. The minimum required score is 80 for the internet-based test, and 213 for the computer-based test. If a student fails to submit an official TOEFL score report, the student will be required to complete a series of non-credit ESL courses to meet KSI's language requirement.

Requirements for Admission

Knowledge Systems Institute accepts applications for admission to its M.S. Degree Program from prospective students who meet the minimum coursework and degree requirements. The following are required for all applicants:

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited U.S. college or university or equivalent international institution
  • Minimum of 2.75 GPA or equivalnent
  • Three letters of recommendation from individuals with in-depth knowledge of applicant's ability in the area of computer and information sciences
  • Applicant's professional statement

Students lacking an adequate computer science background are required to take five prerequisite courses including:

Adequate background in CIS is considered a Bachelor of Science Degree (B.S.) in Computer and Information Sciences (CIS) from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university. Incoming students may also take waiver exams for individual prerequisite courses.


International Transfer Students
International Students already holding F-1 status with another school must undergo the same application process as new international students. All necessary materials must be submitted to KSI's Admissions Office. Upon being accepted to KSI, international students will receive an admittance letter which can be shown to the student's international student advisor.

The student must also complete KSI's Transfer Verification Form and submit the form to their international student advisor to have the student's records transferred from their previous institution to KSI through the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). Without the transfer of the student's SEVIS records, KSI will not be able to issue the student the Form I-20.
