In order to be be admiited to KSI Graduate School, and prior to receiving your I-20, students must submit the required application materials:

*If the student does not yet have F-1 visa status and is applying for initial attendance as an F-1 student, a $50 application fee will be required.
**Please note that these items must come directly from the student's college or university, or from the parties that have prepared letters of recommendation, in sealed envelopes that are signed across the seal. Unofficial transcripts may be submitted to begin the application process, but we will need official transcripts to complete each student's application file, and to make an admissions decision.
***TOEFL grade reports should be sent directly to the school using the school's TOEFL test center code, 1379. The minimum required score is 80 for the internet-based test, and 213 for the computer-based test. If a student fails to submit an official TOEFL score report, the student will be required to complete a series of non-credit ESL courses to meet KSI's language requirement.

Postage rates are:
10 days of arriving international mail - $ 20 U.S. dollars
5 days to reach the international express - $ 40 U.S. dollars
3 days to reach the international super-fast - $ 50 U.S. dollars
Note: KSI can air mail your Admission package to you via regular mail which takes at least 14 business days and no additional postage fee. However, if you want the package to arrive sooner you will have to pay the postage fee for the expedite mail service. It costs $20 (10 business days) or $40 (5 business days) or $50 overnight delivery. |

When to Apply: |

KSI Graduate School is on a Semester system. The academic year is divided into Spring, Summer, Autumn - three semesters. Students may apply at any time for any semester. Indicate when you intend to begin on the application form. KSI accepts applications all year around. International students should begin the application process well before the beginning of the semester in order to have time to complete the visa process. |

International Transfer Students

International Transfer Students must complete the above application process AND provide the following: |

| |
International Students already holding F-1 status with another school must undergo the same application process as new international students. All necessary materials must be submitted to KSI's Admissions Office. Upon being accepted to KSI, international students will receive an admittance letter from KSI which can be shown to the student's current international student advisor in order to transfer credits and SEVIS records to KSI.
After a student is admitted to KSI, we will provide international transfer students with a Transfer Verification Form which the student will present along with the KSI admission letter to his/her international student advisor at the current school in order to have the student's SEVIS record released to KSI.
The student must also complete KSI's Transfer Verification Form and submit the form to their international student advisor to have the student's records transferred from their previous institution to KSI through the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). Without the transfer of the student's SEVIS records, KSI will not be able to issue the student the Form I-20. |
Masters Degree Program
International students may apply to KSI Graduate School's Master of Science Degree Program. The MS Degree Program provides advances IT, programming, computer science and IT management experience and prepares students to immediately get a job in the IT industry upon graduation.
Prerequisite Courses
Students who do not have a CIS Bachelor's Degree from a an accredited U.S. college or university may be required to take prerequisite courses prior to beginning the MS Degree Program. Students who have only 2 or 3 years of college experience will be required to take prerequisite courses. Below are the detailed requirements for students with different backgrounds:
Prerequisite Courses for Students with a Bachelor's Degree
Our admissions policy stipulates that applicants to the graduate school who do not have a 4-year undergraduate Computer Science degree from a U.S. college or university must complete 5 standard prerequisite CIS courses in order to begin graduate study.
CIS321- Computer Languages (JAVA)
CIS322- Advanced Object-Orientated Programming(C#)
CIS331- Database Programming (Oracle, SQL)
CIS340- Operating Systems
CIS370- Introduction into Computer Networks
After you have successfully completed the above prerequisite courses you will then be able to take KSI graduate course. Please keep in mind that a "C" average must be maintained in all 300-level courses.
Curricular and Occupational Practical Training (C.P.T./O.P.T.)
After being enrolled at KSI for a specified period of time, students can apply for Curricular Practical Training (C.P.T.) in order to gain work experience while attending the MS Degree Program.
Students can apply for Occupational Practical Training (O.P.T.) in order to gain work experience after graduation. O.P.T. period is normally 12 to 29 months of practical training after graduating from the MS Degree Program.
English Requirements
International students are required to fulfill an ESL requirement. Students may take the TOEFL exam and pass out of the English requirement, or students may enroll in the KSI English Language Program. Students are required to take a placement test at the beginning of study at KSI to determine which ESL course level to enroll initially. The following are entrance and advancement polices:
English Requirements for International Students
International students without TOEFL score of 80 will be required to enroll in the ESL program, Students have 3 options: 1) Students can take one level of ESL courses(2 courses) and then take the TOEFL. The student must then receive a score of higher than 80 on the TOEFL exam to meet KSI’s language requirement, then the student can waive the other 2 levels of ESL courses. 2) Students can take three consecutive levels of ESL courses (6 courses) and then take the TOEFL. The student must then receive a score of at least 72 on the TIOEFL exam to meet KSI’s language requirement or 3) Students may choose to take a series of five levels of ESL courses (10 courses). Upon satisfactory completion of these five levels of ESL course, the student will no longer be required to submit a TOEFL score to KSI. Students are permitted to take ESL courses along with credit courses. If you take the TOEFL and achieve the minimum accepted score or higher before the semester starts, you will not be required to take the ESL courses. If you don’t take the TOEFL, you will be required to take ESL courses. Please note that KSI only accepts TOEFL only.

According to the U.S Immigration Office, overseas international students are required to take at least 8 courses for the first year of their study in the United States.
Accreditation
KSI is fully accredited in the United States by the NCA Higher Learning Commission (The Higher Learning Commission of the NCA). The NCA is the same accrediting institution that provides accrediation for all higher learning institutions in the region, including University of Chicago, Northwestern University and all other colleges, universities and graduate schools.
In the United States, the school's evaluation certification (accreditation) is issued by a non-governmental professional accreditation body commissioned to provide an impartial and objective scholars of the school's teaching, curriculum review evaluation in order to ensure the quality of education provided by schools.
