Professional organizations provide opportunities for students to learn and network through publications, meetings, and conferences. Some of these organizations provide discounted membership and conference fees for students.

Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence

“Founded in 1979, the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) (formerly the American Association for Artificial Intelligence) is a nonprofit scientific society devoted to advancing the scientific understanding of the mechanisms underlying thought and intelligent behavior and their embodiment in machines. AAAI also aims to increase public understanding of artificial intelligence, improve the teaching and training of AI practitioners, and provide guidance for research planners and funders concerning the importance and potential of current AI developments and future directions.”

Based in Australia, the CGSociety is a global organization for creative digital artists. The CGS supports artists at every level by offering a range of services to connect, inform, educate and promote, by celebrating achievement, excellence and innovation in all aspects of digital art.  Members on the CGSociety Advisory Board include artists, animation directors and visual effects producers.

Based in Singapore, the IACSIT is a non-profit international scientific association of scholars engaged in computer science and information technology. The IACSIT members include professors, research scientists, engineers, scholars, experienced software development engineers, university postgraduate and undergraduate engineering and technology students. The mission of IACSIT is to foster and conduct collaborative interdisciplinary research in state-of-the-art methodologies and technologies within its areas of expertise.

 

International Digital Media and Arts Association (http://www.idmaa.org/)

The International Digital Media and Arts Association (iDMAa) began as a group of 15 universities. iDMAa is dedicated to serving educators, practitioners, scholars, and organizations with interests in digital media.

 

Network Professional Association (http://www.npanet.org/)

The non-profit Network Professional Association® is the leading organization for network computing professionals. Members adhere to a code of ethics, demonstrate continual professional development and knowledge, adhere to the latest best practice standards, and strive for continual growth. The Association’s focus is to support and promote the role of the network professional.
