Information Literacy

Information literacy is considered a very important skill in the digital age. It teaches students how to understand when they have an information need, how to locate resources, how to evaluate the resources, and how to use the information responsibly. Students learn not to trust everything they find on the internet. They learn how to recognize authoritative and appropriate sources of information. They also learn not to infringe on copyrights and not to plagiarize.

The University of Texas has developed an online tutorial for students called "TILT." The University of Texas shares the tutorial with other institutions at no charge. See the home page at:
