Exciting things are happening at KSI that can improve your career! KSI students are getting industry experience by participating in internship programs at companies like ACCO Brands USA LLC!

ACCO Brands Internship Cooperative Program

KSI and ACCO Brands USA LLC have joined to create an internship program for KSI students. The company has said, "As we understand the MS CIS program at KSI, it prepares students in deep theoretical understanding of Von Neumann architecture and its real life application ... Using the skills [learned through KSI] a practitioner is not only able to discern between myriad computational methods and use right tools and methods for their contemporary real work application, but they should also be able to develop programs using advanced algorithm based approaches. ACCO Brands Information Technology uses several systems that require such deep understanding of Computational Systems and Algorithms. The purpose of this internship is to assist with work on such systems. The details of the responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Developing and maintaining web application programs for e-commerce and web presence using Microsoft ASP,NET, C# and VB.NET programming languages and Microsoft SQL Server database technology
• Developing and maintaining web based knowledge management system using Microsoft Office Sharepoint Portal application.
• Developing web based data storage and maintenance applications using Relational Database systems such as Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2007/8, Oracle Relational Database Release 9i/10g/11g and Apache Derby.
• Developing and maintaining web application programs using Sun's Java Enterprise Edition technology standards applying Java programming language techniques and applying advanced programming techniques such as Design patterns, aspect oriented programming and other abstraction techniques documented in Java Enterprise Edition standard version 1.4 and 5."

By giving students the actual skills and knowledge base needed to succeed in industry KSI is creating a demand for its highly skilled students and graduates in the IT job market.

2) KSI has launched the Software Quality Assurance Training Program: In a message to his new students, Professor Jerry Gao says, "I have taught the software test class since 2000. In Silicon Valley this class has been well-known in the local industry. Many students get their first job by this class. If you are currently working in IT and the software industry, you will find that this class will be very useful for your job career in a long run. Let's have fun studying this subject, and learn how to become a smart test engineer."
