Accountant     Company Information   Edwin C. Sigel, Ltd. is a mid-sized CPA firm located in Northbrook, IL, a suburb of Chicago. Our internships offer an excellent opportunity to experience working at a CPA firm doing work in a variety of areas, including assisting with accounting, tax, and administrative duties. While an internship is no guarantee of permanent employment at ECS, Ltd., since the program's inception we have offered permanent jobs to more than 35% of our interns.   Job Description   The internship duties consist of: preparation and assembly of individual and corporate tax returns; coding of checks, input of cash disbursements, preparation of payroll returns and sales tax returns and assistance with administrative projects. Training is on the job. Interns work with staff and partners on the various aspects of client engagements. Staff and partners provide instruction on each task assigned to the interns and prior workpapers are provided as a guide to follow. Familiarity with spreadsheet programs (i.e. Excel or Lotus) is required as well as the ability to use a 9 key calculator. Interns must have daily access to a vehicle. Interns are evaluated on an informal basis. Quality of work, attitude, ability to learn quickly and follow up as needed are all characteristics sought in interns as well as permanent employees.
