The International Conference on Chinese Language Computing serves as a forum for academic and industrial researchers and practitioners to discuss the application of new computer technologies to Chinese and Oriental languages computing. The issues considered include all aspects of computer processing of Chinese and Oriental languages: input, character recognition, speech recognition, automatic translation, teaching and retrieval from archives and web. Of special interests are web-based applications, e-commerce, multilingual distance learning and the use of XML in multilingual applications. Submissions of proposals to organize a session, a panel or a tutorial are also being solicited. TOPICS Related topics that address these themes include, but not limited to the following: Chinese WWW Chinese E-Commerce Computer-based Chinese Education Web-based Tools for Chinese Teaching as a Second Language Automated Language Translation Chinese PDA Architecture XML for Chinese Language Computing Knowledge Representation of Chinese Languages Speech Understanding Character Recognition SESSIONS, PAPELS, TUTORIAL PROPOSALS Sessions, Panels and Tutorial proposals should include a two or three-page summary containing the title, proponents, contact information, abstract, description and the background of the proponent. Four copies of the proposal should be sent before December 1, 2001 to: ICCLC2002, Department of Information Engineering, Feng Chia University, Taichung, Taiwan. Please send four copies of the complete manuscript with a 200-word abstract and no more than 25 pages of double-spaced text (including figures and references) before January 25, 2002 to the above address. All accepted papers will be published in the proceedings.
