Theme of Workshop
-----------------
Distance learning, virtual university, or remote classroom technologies
change the methodology and operation of education. With the tremendous
growing amount of Internet users, virtual university is a step toward a
global university. Since Internet is international, multilingual distance
education is one of the possible trends to the future society. This
workshop, as a constituent of ICCLC2000, serves as a forum for academic
and industrial researchers and practitioners to discuss the application
of new computer technologies to Chinese and Oriental languages in virtual
university operations. The workshop organizers seek contributions of high
quality papers addressing various aspects of multilingual distance learning
and virtual university operations, for presentation at the workshop and
publication in the proceedings. Topics of interest include, but are not
limited to:

  o Multilingual Distance Learning Tools
o Administration Tools for Vitural University Operations
  o Multilingual Courseware Development Environment
o Assessment Tools for Distance Learning
  o Multilingual On-line Discussion Tools
  o Audio and Vedio Communications
o Vitural University Reality to Social Impact
o Psychological Issues in Distance Learning

The use of prototypes and demonstration video for presentations
is encouraged.
