Competition in Multimedia Arts

Sponsored by Knowledge Systems Institute, USA, University of Salerno, Italy, Digital Content Institute of Institute for Information Industry, Taiwan, National Taiwan University, Taiwan, and Tainan National University of the Arts, Taiwan.

The Competition in Multimedia Arts brings together the artists and multimedia communities to prompte both multimedia technology through the arts, and the arts through multimedia technology. Students are especially encouraged to submit their works to the Competition in Multimedia Arts.

The competition consists of two categories:

(1) Short films shoud not be longer than five minutes. It can be on any subject matter, with human actors/actresses or without. Short films must be submitted in digital format. The submission format includes avi, mov, wmv, rm and others. The size of the file should be less than 100 MB. Winners will be asked to supply the digital film at the finest resolution and therefore are not subject to the above mentioned constraints in file size.

(2) Animation should not be longer than three minutes. The submission format includes FLASH and others. The size of the animation file should be less than 100 MB. Winners will be asked to supply the animation at the finest resolution and therefore are not subject to the above mentioned constraints in file size.

Winners in each category will be announced at the DMS06 conference, and their works will be exhibited at the Center for Multimedia Arts, Knowledge Systems Institute, USA and concurrently at the sponsoring institutions. Awards for the winners include iPods, notebooks and tiution scholarship to take courses at Knowledge Systems Institute (either live courses or distance learning courses). The conference will be held at the Grand Canyon Squire Inn in Grand Canyon, USA and the art exhibition will be held at the Center for Multimedia Arts, Knowledge Systems Institute, USA and the sponsoring institutions.
