VLC08 Special Track on Sketch Computing
The International Workshop on Visual Language Computing (VLC ’2008) will host a Special
Session on Sketch Computing to take into account the growing interest of the research community
into the definition of new and natural ways for interacting with pen-based computing devices such
as handheld PDAs, tablet PCs, interactive blackboards, etc. The goal of this session is to establish
and explore the main research areas involving sketch interactions. Graduate students, and junior
faculty/researchers are particularly invited to present their research work.
Topics of interest
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
- sketch recognition and matching,
- sketch semantics,
- interactive sketch-based interfaces,
- sketch-based retrieval systems
- sketch programming
- sketch-based tools (bioinformatics, e-learning, etc.)
All the submitted papers will be reviewed by the international Program Committee members.
Accepted papers will be published in the Proceedings of DMS2008. A selection of the best papers
will be invited for subsequent publication in a special issue of the Journal of Visual Languages and
Papers of up to six (6) IEEE double-column pages should be submitted via email to
