Digital television started as terrestrial or satellite broadcast of moving images and sound by discrete (digital) signals, in contrast to the analog signals used by analog TV. In the last decade, many research communities have contributed to the evolution of this technology. In particular, research has focused on the development of broadband access networks and new video coding strategies, which has also led to the development of digital television over IP (IPTV). The goal of this session is to establish and explore the main research areas underlying digital television platforms. Researcher from both Academy and Industry are welcome to present their recent research deveopments.
