Program Description:
In the last two years, SAS has become widely employed for business and academic research. The pharmaceutical industry and many of the Fortune 500 companies have found it an especially effective method for research, as well.
Our SAS Certification program consists of two courses MA377: SAS Base Programming and MA379: SAS Advanced Programming. While both courses discuss programming in SAS, MA379 places a greater emphasis in the understanding and application of statistics.
These courses are suitable for students with no computer programming background, but have sufficient knowledge of basic statistics.
MA377: SAS Base Programming
This course is designed for new SAS users who are interested in learning basic SAS programming. It provides you a start in all basic concepts and techniques of SAS base programming in either the SAS or SAS Enterprise Guide programming workspace, including creating data, modifying and combining data sets, summarizing and presenting data, and debugging SAS programs.
The course is divided into four major sections: (1) Basic Concepts, (2) DATA Step Processing, (3) Presenting Your Data and (4) Summarizing Your Data.
Key Topics: Reading data from external sources, learning details of DATA step programming, subsetting and combining SAS data sets, understanding SAS functions and working with arrays, creating reports with PROC REPORT and PROC TABULATE, learning to use the SAS Output Delivery System, getting started with the SAS macro language, introducing PROC SQL
MA379: Advanced SAS Programming
This course introduces procedures used to obtain descriptive statistics, frequency tables, and cross tabulations. You will also be introduced to several inferential statistics such as the chi-square test, independent- and paired-sample t-tests, bivariate correlations, regression, and univariate and repeated- measures ANOVA using realtime data.
After completing this course, you should be able to obtain descriptive statistics, create a frequency table, create a cross tabulation table, perform a chi- square test of independence, use t-tests, conduct regression analysis, and specify basic ANOVA models using SAS.
Key Topics: SAS Systems, Data Manipulation, SAS Macro, Descriptive Statistics, ANOVA, Correlation and Regression, Non-Parametric Statistics
